Blessings to Mike Peper
Mike’s official last day serving First is Dec. 31. Hopefully, I’ll have a couple opportunities to say this in person for myself, but I hope all our members and friends of First Lutheran make time to thank Mike for his 14 years of faithful service. He and his wife, Mary, look forward to spending even more time with their beloved grandkids, and who can blame them? May God bless them for many years to come! Happy retirement, Mike!
Who will be our synod’s next YAGM? (Young Adults in Global Mission)
The ELCA Young Adults in Global Mission program invites young adults (ages 21-29) into a year-long international journey of service. If you, a friend, a church family member would be interested in such a journey, go to elca.org/yagm and begin the application process. The application window opens Nov. 1, and closes Feb. 15, 2020, with priority given to those who apply by Jan. 15.
Lutheran World Relief School Kits
First is collecting school supplies for Lutheran World Relief school kits, which we will assemble as part of the ELCA’s God’s Work, Our Hands Sunday and First Fest on Sept. 8. Our goal is to assemble 500 kits before school starts. Bring donations to the altar before/after worship or during offering. For more information contact Bridget Crave.
Bingo Bucks Wishlist
Numerous times a week the Bethany Riverside residents play Bingo. Many of you help with Bingo on a regular basis, and it is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. In case you didn't know, once a month Bethany Riverside opens its "Bingo Bucks Store." The residents can spend their Bingo Bucks from winning Bingo during the month. Bethany Riverside tries to have a good assortment of small items and snacks, but has a very limited budget for these items. If you are able to help out, know that the residents would be very grateful!
