Purple Caps for Prevention
People who knit or crochet are asked to make and donate purple baby caps for an informational campaign in eastern Wisconsin to prevent infant abuse. In cooperation with the PURPLE program to prevent shaken-baby syndrome, the Finley Olson Memorial Fund will give the caps to babies born at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, along with information for the parents about shaken-baby syndrome. Finley Olson, the niece of Amanda DeNault, who attends First Lutheran, died while in the care of a daycare provider. The family, in honor of her memory, is supporting education that they hope will prevent other infant deaths.
The caps should be sized for newborns.
They can be any shade of purple and must be at least 50 percent purple.
The church is not collecting the caps. Send the caps to:
