On Friday, October 5, the OWLs will travel to one of Wisconsin’s famous historic sites, the Villa Louis mansion in Prairie Du Chien. In the mid-1840s, the Dousman family began developing an estate that became Villa Louis. Its vibrant hues and rich textures reflected the family’s rise to wealth and leisure living. Throughout its evolution the property was always considered an elegant and stylish Victorian country home, and much attention was paid to the grounds. The OWLs will have our own tour of the mansion and grounds. We will depart from the church at 8:45am on October 5. After our tour and visiting the fur-trading museum, we will have lunch at a fine local establishment. We will be back at the church by 3pm. Cost of the tour is $10.50, lunch is on your own. It will be a great day for a drive along the river.
Please RSVP to Brian Narveson at owls@firstlu.org by Wednesday, October 3, if you would like to be part of the adventure.
