  • Blue Christmas Worship: Wed., Dec. 21, 6:15pm worship, with a light meal & conversation at 5:30pm.
  • Christmas Eve Worship Times: 2:00pm, 4:00pm, 6:00pm and 11:00pm. All will be candlelight and all will be with Holy Communion 
  • Christmas Sunday Worship Time:  10am only, with Holy Communion. No Sunday School nor Confirmation classes.
  • New Year’s Sunday Worship Time: 10am only, with a special blessing for Pastor Stanton as he begins his sabbatical. No Sunday School nor Confirmation classes.

High School Christmas Party!

Get your holiday festing started early!! Classic holiday movies will play in the background while we eat supper... and lots of holiday cookies and treats. Sunday, December 18, 6-8:30pm

Faith Alive Creative Circle

Monday, December 19, 6-9pm. Meeting the third Monday of each month in the fellowship hall, the Faith Alive Creative Circle is a gathering of people working out their creative muscles. All are welcome to bring whatever project you are working on and enjoy fellowship while doing it. Join us!

OWLs Christmas Potluck

On Wed., December 21, the OWLs, a group for those 55+, will have their world-famous Christmas potluck at noon in the narthex. The gift exchange is optional; bring a gift if you would like to receive a gift. The gift theme is “An Old-fashioned Christmas.” Bring something purchased or handmade that reminds you of a Christmas past; keep the value to less than $10. Also, bring a few Christmas goodies to share in addition to your potluck dish and wear your favorite Christmas sweater or outfit. Questions? Contact Brian Narveson at owls@firslu.org.

Blue Christmas Worship

Wednesday, December 21, 6:15pm. Please join us at First Lutheran for an hour of worship including music, prayers, candlelight and reflection on what God is up to amidst our blue feelings around Christmas. There will be a light meal at 5:30pm.

Grief Groups

Carrying on after the death of a loved one can be difficult and lonely. Join with others who have experienced loss, and listen and care for each other. Two groups to choose from, both meeting the first Thursday of the month:

  • 1pm in the Upper Rm, led by Nancy Beguin
  • 7pm at Gloria Kubiak’s home; call Gloria at 608.498.2762 if interested in joining

Luther College Nordic Choir

One of the top a cappella college choirs in the nation, the Nordic Choir will perform under the direction of guest conductor Jeffrey Douma on Sunday, January 22, at 4pm at First Lutheran. The concert performance by the 72-member Nordic Choir is open to the public. For advance tickets, call 800-4-LUTHER or go to tickets.luther.edu; tickets for sale at the door if not sold out.

Clothes Closet Specific Needs

Thank you to all for the wonderful donations to the First Teen Clothes Closet – we are stuffed full now, with only a few specific needs. What we could really use: coats, shoes, boots, and hard-to-find XXL and larger sizes for both guys and girls.

Going away for the winter?

If you’re going away for the winter, please let us know. If we know your winter address, we can keep you up to date with church news and activities through the monthly newsletter and other mailings. Sign up for flowers for 2017

The sign-up sheets for the 2017 flowers are on the bulletin board. If you would like to honor the memory of a loved one check the bulletin board and sign up for an open week of your choice. You can also contact the church office to inquire about openings: office@firstlu.org / 608.783.2236.

Synod School of Theology

Grow in faith, develop your spirituality, deepen your discipleship, discern your baptismal vocation, and learn more about the Bible, theology and the Church. Three courses will be offered as 6-week sessions and offered three times each year in the fall, winter and spring. Courses include: Bible, Theology, Church History, Ministry Skills and Spiritual Development. The first session begins January 12, 2017.
