Sabbatical Together: Genealogy 101

As part of the Lily Grant’s support of Pastor Karyn’s sabbatical, members of First are offered some of the same sabbatical experiences.

Genealogy, also called family history, is the tracing of a person’s ancestral lines. The best place to start any genealogical quest is with the present, the person you know best – you! Learn how to start researching your own family history, and be prepared for an endlessly fascinating journey full of surprises, mystery, and aha moments. Intended for beginning genealogists or for experienced genealogists who want a refresher on some topics, including: interviewing relatives, vital records & censuses, citing sources, and memorializing your findings. Presented by Bill O’Driscoll from the La Crosse Historical Society

For those interested, you will be encouraged to stay connected and meet occasionally to share successes and struggles and support each other in your genealogy search.
