Howard S. Anderson, 83, of Onalaska died peacefully Dec. 17, 2015, at his home. He was surrounded by his family and entered into eternal life in the loving arms of his Lord.
He was born June 3, 1932, on Fish Creek Ridge, to Herbert and Stella (Torkelson) Anderson. He married Mary Etta Byom Sept. 11, 1954, at Trinity Lutheran Church in La Crosse. Together, they owned and operated the Coulee Wash Basket Laundromat for more than 20 years. Howard was also a foreman at Trane Co. for 32 years, retiring in 2001. Spending time with family was Howard’s greatest love.
In addition to his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Etta, he is survived by his children, Diane (Jim) Shuda of Onalaska, Paul (Eva) Anderson of Arcadia, Scott (Trisha) Anderson of Bonduel, Wis., Dan (Tiffany) Anderson of New Lisbon, Wis.; 12 grandchildren, Greg, Stephanie, Emily, Isaiah, Annika, Maria, Cole, Carli, Gage, Garrett, Greta, Lena; one great-grandson, Harrison; one sister, Arlene Johnson of Mondovi, Wis.; one brother, George (Jill) Klody of Middleton, Wis.; and five stepgrandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Mitch Klody; and his twin brother, Hayward.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, at First Lutheran Church in Onalaska. Pastor Jason Stanton will officiate. Burial will follow in Onalaska Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday morning at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church.
