Announcements for Pentecost Sunday, May 19 2024

INSIDE: Wear red! • One Worship THIS Sunday • Summer Time Changes

In the church year, the day of Pentecost is the culmination of the 50 days of the Easter celebration. After showing himself to the disciples and after having ascended, Jesus’ followers received the promised gift of the Holy Spirit.

On the 50th day of Easter, our Lutheran worship is filled with festivity, color and movement as we conclude the Easter celebration and welcome anew the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Many ELCA worshipers wear red on the festival of Pentecost, recalling the red of the flames of the Holy Spirit.

The wind of the Holy Spirit both forms the church and urges us outside the walls of the church to carry on the mission and ministry of Christ in the world.

Join us for Worship!

Water is Life Synod Project

Why is there a well in the narthex? To make a wish for water, raising money for the La Crosse Area Synod Hunger Team safe water project! Safe and abundant water in a community means better health, better crops, better nutrition, and better quality of life. Water is life… water changes everything!

  • Globally, 1.8 billion people—1 out of every 4 people—drink from contaminated water sources.

  • Unsafe water claims the lives of 840,000 people each year, half are children under five.

  • On average, women in Sub-Saharan Africa walk 3.7 miles each day to fetch water. The traditional five-gallon jug they use weighs 40 pounds when full!

Place your donations in the well, or donate online at 1stlu.org/next.

Donations For Ukraine
