Frolic!

This group is for parents/guardians and their children ages birth to 3 years old, and meets the last Sunday, at 9:15am in room 102. We sing, dance, play and pray together to learn ways to raise our little Christians in the home. We have time with the kids and time with just the adults. During the adult time, we have volunteers come in and play with our children as we talk. We welcome newcomers all the time — join us!

Join Us!

By choosing to become a member, individuals and families commit to being part of a shared mission — and in one way, answer Jesus’ call to “come follow me.” We get to know you and can more easily provide you with ministry opportunities and invitations to offer your gifts to the rest of this family of faith. People who would like to become members of First Lutheran are invited to a three-week introduction to the church, presented in a small-group setting. The group will meet on these days: April 30, May 7 & May 11. You can join us last minute: just speak with a pastor!

Clothes Closet Needs:

  • Jewelry
  • Athletic shorts (guys and girls, all sizes)

OWLs

On Wed., May 3, the OWLs, a group for those 55+, will fly to Norskedalen, leaving the church at 10:30am and arriving back around 4pm. RSVP to Brian at owls@firstlu.org. On Wed., May 10, the OWLs will have an earlier than usual monthly potluck at noon in the narthex.

Sunshine Boys

The Sunshine Boys serve at First on the first Thursday of each month; the next meeting will be Thursday, May 4, at 9am. The Sunshine Boys are an informal group that performs a variety of necessary tasks around the church; such as grounds clean-up, minor repairs, and other small jobs. Rolls and coffee are supplied to replenish your reserves! Dues are free! Contact Mike, our custodian, with any questions: mike@firstlu.org.

Grief Groups

Carrying on after the death of a loved one can be difficult and lonely. Join with others who have experienced loss, and listen and care for each other. Two groups to choose from, both meeting the first Thursday of the month:

  • 1pm in the Upper Rm, led by Nancy Beguin
  • 7pm at Gloria Kubiak’s home; call Gloria at 608.498.2762 if interested in joining

CAN YOU HELP a seminary student and his family?

Drew is in his first year at Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque. This summer, he will be in La Crosse while doing his clinical pastoral education in one of the hospitals. Drew and his family (wife and 2 children) need housing from the end of May through the first half of August and would be very grateful for some assistance in finding a place. If you have any leads or can provide housing yourself, please contact him at drewsky100@gmail.com or 605.690.8332. Thank you!

Confirmation Celebration

For all confirmation students, small group guides and parents. Wed., May 24, 6–7:30pm, at Rowe Park.
