NEW-MEMBER SESSIONS
By choosing to become a member, individuals and families commit to being part of a shared mission — and in one way, answer Jesus’ call to “come follow me.” We get to know you and can more easily provide you with ministry opportunities and invitations to offer your gifts to the rest of this family of faith. People who would like to become members of First Lutheran are invited to a three-week introduction to the church, presented in a small-group setting. The group will meet on these days in 2017: April 30, May 7 & 11. Please call the church office at 608.783.2236 to sign up.
CAN YOU HELP a seminary student and his family?
Drew is in his first year at Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque. This summer, he will be in La Crosse, working in one of the hospitals, while doing his clinical pastoral education. Drew and his family (wife and two children) need housing from the end of May through the first half of August and would be very grateful for help finding a place. If you have any leads or can provide housing yourself, please contact him at drewsky100@gmail.com or 605.690.8332. Thank you!
Sugar Creek Horse Project
Camper fees at Sugar Creek Bible Camp cover only 73% of the cost of camp. Monetary gifts are vital to the camp’s operating budget, and you can help by donating through the Sugar Creek Horse Project. Look for the horse on the bulletin board outside the church office. Give $20 to Sugar Creek and put your name in one of the squares.
Refugees: A Worldwide Crisis
Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in conjunction with La Crescent Community Education is offering a course on four consecutive Tuesdays beginning April 4, at 7pm. This course is designed to inform and provide opportunity for discussion about issues surrounding the refugee crisis in the world, the causes of this crisis, and how we might respond to it. Each week will feature a speaker and time for conversation. Speakers will include an immigration attorney, a Somalian refugee, and Ethiopian refugees. You are welcome to participate in any or all of these sessions. Contact La Crescent Community Education at 507-895-5150 to register.
