Worship Team Gatherings

In order to better know other members in our worship teams, and to review team goals, plan to attend the gathering time for your teams listed below:

  • March 19, 11:30am for ushers
  • March 22, 7pm for bread bakers

Fundraiser for Youth: Skin So Soft Bug Guard Plus

Do you use bug spray during the summer? Chances are the answer is yes — and everyone around you has the same answer! From March 5 to 26, youths can sell Skin So Soft Bug Guard Plus products to their family and friends and make money toward their church trip this summer. Ask Tina for more info: tina@firstlu.org

COME FOR SUPPER

First Lutheran is assisting with Come for Supper on Tuesday, March 28, at Our Savior’s in La Crosse. First Lutheran will help with food donations, serving and cleaning up. The sign-up sheets are at the Welcome Center. Call Gloria Kubiak if you have questions, 608.498.2762.

Blood Drive

Thursday, March 30, 12:30-5:30pm. Every day ordinary people are saved by some pretty extraordinary people: People who give blood. Your donation could be the most valuable gift you ever give. Just ask anyone who’s ever received. Walk-ins welcome; appointments encouraged, schedule yours at www.bcw.edu/firstluthona. Please bring a photo ID.

Refugees: A Worldwide Crisis

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in conjunction with La Crescent Community Education is offering a course on four consecutive Tuesdays beginning April 4, at 7pm.  This course is designed to inform and provide opportunity for discussion about issues surrounding the refugee crisis in the world, the causes of this crisis, and how we might respond to it. Each week will feature a speaker and time for conversation. Speakers will include an immigration attorney, a Somalian refugee, and Ethiopian refugees. You are welcome to participate in any or all of these sessions. Contact La Crescent Community Education at 507-895-5150 to register. 

Mabel Anderson Scholarship

Applications are now available. Completed applications are due no later than 11:30am on Sunday, April 30. Students may apply if they will graduate from high school in the spring and have plans to pursue post-secondary education. The application includes writing an essay and completing a worksheet that reflects the student’s involvement in church activities. Application forms are available at 1stlu.org/scholarship or in the church office during office hours, M-F 8am-4pm.

Baptismal Preparation

A baptism preparation session will be Saturday, April 1, at 10am in the narthex for anyone who is considering or has scheduled a baptism. To register or ask questions, contact the church office: 608.783.2236 / office@firstlu.org. 

Sugar Creek Horse Project

Camper fees at Sugar Creek Bible Camp cover only 73% of the cost of camp. Monetary gifts are vital to the camp’s operating budget, and you can help by donating through the Sugar Creek Horse Project. Look for the horse on the bulletin board outside the church office. Give $20 to Sugar Creek and put your name in one of the squares.

Remember to pick up a welcome basket for your new neighbor. Located in the resource center.

Sip n' Paint for April

Thursday, April 6, 6:30pm. Bring a friend or two! This is a great time to relax and let go of the worries of the world, or allow your brain to think through a problem in a different way, and enjoy yourself.

Palm Sunday Breakfast

Fundraiser for youth going on mission trips and Bible camp. No coffee hour nor Sunday School between services. Breakfast will be served 9–10:30am.

Young Youth & Younger Easter Egg Hunt

Join us on Palm Sunday, April 9 from 9:45–10:15am for an Easter egg hunt and fun! All kids grade 5 and younger can join in this exciting time to explore and enjoy fellowship with friends. RSVP at 1stlu.org/egghunt or office@firstlu.org.
