Youth Child Care Assistants for Parenting Class

Sunday evenings April 10–May 1. Can you help with child care during our parenting class? Every Sunday evening, 6:15-8:00, we need two people to assist our child care provider. The kids in your care range from infants up to 9 years old. Youth should have some experience babysitting or working in the nursery. Sign up at 1stlu.org/nurseryhlp.

Chicken-Q!

Thursday, April 28, 11am–6pm. Purchase tickets from any youth raising funds for mission trips & Bible camp, or at the office during office hours Mon–Fri. Meals cost only $9 and you get half a chicken, beans, potato salad and a bun—A GREAT DEAL! And most importantly, all funds raised go to support youth going on mission trips and to Sugar Creek Bible Camp! Youth: tickets can be picked up from Tina.

Nursery Attendant

First Lutheran Church, Onalaska, is seeking a part-time nursery attendant for kids under 5 years of age. Times may include Sunday mornings, but would mostly be for occasional opportunities for additional hours during evenings. Call 608.783.2236 for more information.

Blood drive success!

First Lutheran’s March blood drive was another success. Thank you to the many volunteers that helped make this happen. Forty-plus units of blood were donated. This is amazing! Thanks again volunteers!

Provide a Chair at the Table!

All year we have been talking about how God shows up when we Come to the Table. As we renovate the Fellowship Hall, where milestones, meals and more happen, we need new chairs to safely rest upon our new floor. Please consider making a special gift to the Fellowship Hall Fund. A quality banquet chair costs about $75, but gifts of all sizes are, of course, welcome. Thank you for providing a “Chair at the Table.”

Welcome Baskets

Members of First Lutheran, the Welcome Basket Team is looking for your help. We would like to include in our baskets items from our congregation. Items like knitted or crocheted dishcloths, scrubbies, or other homemade items. We would also like to include area business coupons, business cards or other small promotional items. If you have a business you would like to promote in our Welcome Basket or an item you would like to donate, please let Kathryn know. Give her a call at church, or e-mail if you are interested or have any questions. Call 608.783.2236 or e-mail at kathryn@firstlu.org.

Staff Appreciation video

Miss the staff appreciation video that the confirmands put together? Watch it on your phone or computer at 1stlu.org/appreciation. Thanks for the love, confirmands!

NEW-MEMBER SESSIONS

First Lutheran welcomes all people to participate in Christ’s mission through our ministries, worship and programs, whether you are a member or not. Membership does, however, benefit our congregation. If you’re a member, we know your contact information, can more easily provide you with ministry opportunities and invite you to offer your gifts to the rest of this family of faith. The next new-member session will be Sunday, May 1, with new member Sunday on May 8. To register your family or ask questions, call our church office at 608.783.2236 or email office@firstlu.org.

Sermon Notes & Audio

Sermon notes are available from ushers during worship; they are also available online, along with the sermon audio, at 1stlu.org/sermons. Sermon notes are meant to be used…

  • During worship to write down things you hear that surprise, shock, or otherwise strike a chord with you.
  • At home, to think about what you heard during the sermon and what it means to you, in your life, right now.
  • In small groups, to share your thoughts and to listen to others talk about how they heard the sermon and were moved by it.
