OWLs fly to La Crosse Queen Paddleboat Sightseeing Cruise

On Wednesday, Sept. 4, the OWLs, a group for those 55+, will fly to the La Crosse Queen Mississippi River Sightseeing Cruise. Meet at church: 10am. Cost: $16; lunch on your own. Sunday Worship changing back 

Starting Sunday, Sept. 8, worship times will be as follows: first service at 8am, and second service at 10:30am. See you there!

First Fest!

On Sunday, Sept. 8, we invite you to join us at 11:30am to relax, catch up with friends, introduce yourself to visitors or members you’ve yet to meet, listen to great music, have lunch and have some fun!

Sing!

Do you like music? Do you enjoy singing, even if it’s in the shower? Do you appreciate the power of music in worship? Then put all of these things together and join the First Lutheran Senior Choir! On Saturday, Sept. 7, at 10am come out to Sugar Creek for our annual quilt/antique auction and celebration!

Blessing Sunday School & Confirmation Leaders

We invite all who are involved with leading/helping with our Sunday School and Confirmation to join in worship for a special blessing as we begin a new year of ministry. We will bless Sunday School leaders on Sunday, Sept. 8, and Confirmation leaders on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Sunday School First Day

Sunday, Sept. 8, is the first day of Sunday School! Parents/guardians and kids will gather in the sanctuary at 9:15am to kick off this year’s Sunday School program. Ring!

Join the fun — ring bells! This group performs once a month. We welcome widely varied musical backgrounds. No experience necessary! We’ll begin with the basics and learn to work together. Summer Book Discussion: More Than a Rock

Entering Grade 6 Milestone

At First Lutheran we are committed to bringing the presence of God into the lives of children everywhere they go. This life milestone is for sixth-graders and their parents/guardians as they transition from elementary to middle school, and celebrates that each child is made in the image of God. We spend our time in four weeks talking about being created in the image of God, how God is in the midst of change and ways that we can feel connected with God through spiritual practices. Week one starts Sunday, Sept. 15, 9:15am in the Fireside Room.

Middle and High School Youth Groups

COME FOR SUPPER

First Lutheran is assisting with Come for Supper on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at Our Savior’s in La Crosse. First Lutheran will help with food donations and volunteering to serve and clean up. The sign-up sheets are at the Welcome Center. Call Gloria Kubiak if you have questions, 608.498.2762. 

Clothes Closet is Busy!

As back-to-school is in full swing, the First Teen Clothes Closet is BUSY! And we need volunteer hosts for Monday shopping, late afternoons, 4-6pm. If you are interested in being a volunteer host, contact the office, and a committee member will provide a quick orientation. Or if you have volunteered in the past, go to 1stlu.org/closet and click “Sign Up To Volunteer.”

Quilts on Display

The quilts on display in the narthex this Sunday, Sept. 1, were created by the quilters of First Lutheran and will be donated to Sugar Creek Bible Camp for its upcoming quilt auction on Saturday, Sept. 7. The quilters are an open group and welcome new members; join them on Tuesdays at 9am in the Fireside Room.

Blood Drive

Friday, Sept. 27, 12:30-4:30pm. Every day ordinary people are saved by some pretty extraordinary people. People who give blood. Your donation could be the most valuable gift you ever give. Just ask anyone who’s ever received. Walk-ins welcome; appointments encouraged, schedule yours at 1stlu.org/blooddrive. Please bring a photo ID.

By choosing to become a member, individuals and families commit to being part of a shared mission.
