First Congregational UCC in La Crosse to host 4-part series on race
First Congregational Church will host a four-part series titled “On Behalf of Our Children: Wisconsin’s Racial Disparities and the Call of the Gospel,” which will focus on diversity issues both locally and throughout the state.
This guided study, produced by the Wisconsin Council of Churches, helps explore current racial disparities and seeks to encourage congregations to address these disparities at the local level. Topics include discussion about race and white privilege, the data from the Casey Foundation study, and concludes with some action planning to address the concerns.
Sessions will be facilitated by Viterbo faculty member Matthew Bersagel Braley and La Crosse School District cultural liaison Shaundel Spivey.
The sessions will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. April 23 and 30, and May 7 and 14 at First Congregational UCC, 2503 Main St., La Crosse. For more information, call the church at 608.784.8137.
