You can register now using the VBS registration form found inside this announcement page; registrations are also welcome at the door. Questions? Parent Share During VBS

Parent Share will have extra meetings this week, meeting in the Upper Room during Vacation Bible School. The basis for First Lutheran’s Parent Share is simple. When we come together over a cup of coffee and agree to set aside our judgments, open our hearts and share our learned wisdom, we will experience the Holy Spirit’s guiding hand in this journey we call parenting. We will simply come together to pray and talk about raising our children faithfully.

Flowers in the sanctuary are in memory of Clayton Every from Dorothy Every, on Purple Heart Day

OWLs

On Wed., August 10, the OWLs, a group for those 55+, will have their monthly potluck at noon in the narthex. On Monday, August 29, from 4–10pm, the OWLs will fly to the Lanesboro Commonweal Theatre to enjoy the play “Souvenir.” Cost of the play is $35, and dinner is on your own. Notify Brian Narveson by Friday, August 26, if you plan to attend. You can pay Brian for the tickets the night of the outing.

VeggieTales

Sunday school is over for the summer, but children ages 3 (and potty-trained) through grade 5 can still spend time together on Sundays at 9:15 a.m. with an episode of Veggie Tales.

Faith Alive Creative Circle

Exercising our creative muscles and gathering with other people have all sorts of health benefits and are good for individuals and communities, so we are bringing back the “sewing circle” — with a modern twist. The Faith Alive Creative Circle is an opportunity for people to work out using their creative muscles. Enjoy the fellowship of others while working on whatever project you choose to bring with you. From time to time, we will work on a shared project so that we can learn new things from each other. We meet the 3rd Monday of each month from 6-9pm in the Fellowship Hall; join us on August 15!

Sugar Creek Golf Tournament Fundraiser

Saturday, August 27, 1-6pm. Drugan’s Castle Mound Country Club in Holmen. For more info about this fundraiser, contact Sugar Creek directly: 608.734.3113 / camp@sgrcreek.org.

Little LEAPs

This group is for children ages birth to 3 years old and their parents/guardians. We meet the last Sunday of the month, at 9:15am in room 102. We sing, dance, play, and pray together to learn ways to raise our little Christians in the home. We have time with the kids and time with just the adults. During the adult time, we have volunteers come in and play with our children as we talk. We welcome newcomers all the time — join us next on Sunday, August 28

First Fest!

On Sunday, September 11, 11:30am–1:30pm we invite you to join us and relax, catch up with friends, introduce yourself to visitors or even members you’ve yet to meet, listen to some great music, have lunch, and have some fun!

Church Women United

Paddling Solo with God for 2,250 Miles with Ellen McDonah. Mon., Sept. 12, 4:30-6pm, at St Paul’s Lutheran, 420 West Ave S, La Crosse. $7 at the door. More info, call Mary at 608.782.7013.

Confirmation Guides

We are on the search for faithful adults who are willing to spend an hour each week with our confirmation youth. You don’t need to know the Bible backwards and forwards, and you don’t need a seminary degree! All you need is a heart for the youth of our church! Please prayerfully consider this opportunity and contact Tina for more information! tina@firstlu.org

Provide a Chair at the Table

All year we have been talking about how God shows up when we Come to the Table. We installed a new floor in the Fellowship Hall, and we need new chairs to safely rest upon it. We have received $4,000 and need $2,300 to compete the order. Please consider making a special gift to the Fellowship Hall Fund; gifts of all amounts are welcome. Thank you for providing a “Chair at the Table.”
