For hearing assist options at First…
Body pack using over-the-ear ear piece (we currently have four ear pieces; they can be used over your hearing aid. Good quality sound, very little latency)
Body pack using T-coil necklace (we currently have two necklaces; requires a hearing aid with T-coil compatibility. Better quality sound, very little latency)
Using the Wavecast app on your phone (requires hearing aids that can connect to and hear the audio coming from your phone. Best quality sound, some latency. More details below…)
Wavecast App
The Wavecast app allows you to hear the audio streaming from our soundboard to your phone, and in turn allows you to hear it in your hearing aids, in the same way you’d hear music or a call on your phone. To do this, there are several steps you’ll need to follow, and most steps will only have to be done once.
Download the WaveCAST Audio Receiver app by Williams Sound
In your phone’s WiFi settings, connect to our “FLC Hearing” network (password: Lutheran)
This network does not have internet access; your phone may warn you about this
Open the WaveCAST app and select the “1stlu Hearing Assist” channel
There is about a second of latency in the audio stream
To avoid an echo, in your hearing aid app (which varies by hearing aid brand), use a setting that allows you to turn down/mute background or ambient noise, and if you can, turn down the general hearing aid volume and turn up the music volume within the hearing aid app… kind of like if you have your TV connected to your hearing aids.
Please let us know about your experience! The set up is new and we expect tweaks will be necessary, so if someone’s voice or a certain instrument needs to be turned up or down, please let us know. Thanks!
